    In your opinion, what will be the role of natural gas in the next 50 years?

    Natural gas will increasingly be judged not just by its emissions profile, but by the role it plays in a stable and responsible energy system. Over the next 50 years, we see evidence that it will support reliability as power demand rises, enable industrial activity that cannot easily be electrified, and provide energy security to allies through LNG. The sector’s challenge and opportunity will be proving that gas infrastructure can be developed faster to meet the growing demand.

    Viega North America is committed to supporting the trades with products made in North America. The 244,000-square-foot facility represents a $178 million investment and will create approximately 68 new jobs in the first two years. It will produce Viega press technology systems and serve as a key distribution hub and training center for customers across the eastern United States and Canada.

    As Viega North America continues to expand its product offerings and domestic manufacturing capabilities, we see tremendous opportunities in advancing sustainable building technologies and meeting the evolving demands of the energy sector. The shift toward high-efficiency systems and the growing focus on water conservation and safety present new areas for innovation and growth. At the same time, we face challenges related to supply chain resilience, workforce development in the skilled trades and adapting to rapidly changing regulations and market conditions.

    In your opinion, what will be the role of natural gas in the next 50 years?

    We believe that natural gas will continue to provide reliable, flexible energy for buildings and many industrial processes in the near-to-medium term. Our field experience and product lines (for example, MegaPressG and ProPressG) are built around safe, efficient delivery and installation of gas infrastructure. We expect the gas network to become more multi-fuel and lower-carbon. Viega’s systems are already specified for gas applications and some of our product documentation highlights compatibility with hydrogen and other special media, positioning our press-connection approach as a practical way to adapt existing infrastructure. Viega is committed to supporting customers through this transition while reducing our own footprint. We have set a goal to make our production and all facilities climate-neutral by 2035 and continue to pursue product and process improvements that lower life-cycle emissions. That commitment informs how we design systems for today’s gas needs while enabling tomorrow’s reduced-carbon pathways.

    We are based in Weston, Massachusetts, with operational anaerobic co-digestion facilities in Massachusetts and Vermont, and facilities currently under construction in Wisconsin and Virginia.

    What is the company’s priority over the next five years?

    We’re expanding our anaerobic digesters to major US markets, aiming for 50 operational facilities within five years. Partnering with food and beverage manufacturers, we recycle organic waste and cow manure in our on-farm digesters, producing biogas, CO2, and valuable agricultural byproducts. This circular process reduces greenhouse gas emissions, supports regenerative agriculture, and generates renewable natural gas for decarbonizing various industries. Over the next five years, we’ll continue to grow our footprint, offering zero waste solutions to the food and beverage industry while generating renewable energy.

    What opportunities and challenges does your company face? 

    We are the largest Renewable Natural Gas (RNG) producer in the organics space with 12.5 BCF in development across the country, with the opportunity to bring carbon negative renewable energy to a broader audience while helping the food and beverage industry decarbonize and helping to sustain small family farms via an annual lease payment, low-carbon fertilizer, and animal bedding. RNG can be used in multiple segments, creating opportunities for reducing emissions within the gas-to-product, voluntary, utility, and transportation markets, particularly in industries like maritime and international shipping. Regulations and new markets can be a challenge for RNG, and some do not yet have pathways for our unique co-digested RNG, compared to manure or landfill RNG supply sources.

    In your opinion, what will be the role of natural gas in the next 50 years? 

    Natural gas will act as an important transition fuel for grid stability and industrial processes as renewables scale, with RNG emerging as the decarbonization pathway, especially in hard-to-electrify sectors such as shipping or heavy transport. US RNG production, projected to grow tenfold by 2050, will increasingly replace fossil gas with a unique ability, unlike power, to leverage existing natural gas infrastructure, such as Liquefied Natural Gas terminals and pipelines. By 2050, there will be a critical dependence on renewables like RNG as conventional gas declines under climate mandates.

    In your opinion, what will be the role of natural gas in the next 50 years?

    Natural gas is expected to play a key role in the energy mix in combination with other key energy sources. Its versatility and the growth of LNG as a delivery mechanism will link disconnected demand and supply centers. However, the role of natural gas will be influenced by energy regulations, the price of alternative energy forms, and decarbonization policies. As such, the future of natural gas will likely be a balance between its practical utility and the global push towards other lower-emission fuel options.

    What opportunities and challenges does your company face?

    Like many industries over the past few years, we have faced ongoing supply chain challenges. However, we continue to address them as they arise and keep our customers informed of our lead times and product availability. These challenges have encouraged us to adopt a culture of agility and process improvement to mitigate risks as they are uncovered, and course-correct quickly when needed. As the procurement of electronic components becomes more and more challenging, we have prioritized the continued support of our mechanical product lines to ensure that our customers have access to the products their pipelines depend on.

    In your opinion, what will be the role of natural gas in the next 50 years?

    We are firm believers in the importance of natural gas today and in the future as a sustainable source of energy, especially in the northern half of the world where renewables are less dependable and consistent. As certain regions turn to alternative sources of energy, it’s important to inform consumers about production methods of other forms of energy and how critical natural gas supply will be to support energy generation demand in the future. Although change is certain, we are confident that natural gas will continue to be a part of the world’s energy equation in the future.

    The world of probabilistic risk is still “new.” The most common industry challenge is often choosing an approach appropriate to the nature of the assets and true to the objectives of Integrity Management. JANA sees the opportunities a quantitative probabilistic approach can provide gas operators. These risk models take advantage of data availability to provide predictive forecasts of asset risk. Software can also be employed to turn model outputs into actionable information, giving integrity engineers the tools and visualizations needed to build optimal plans, justify mitigations and understand risk across an entire asset base. “New” is both an opportunity and a challenge!

    Pipelines are at the heart of civilization; they deliver us the fluid of life (water), energy (natural gas), handle our wastes and enable many of our production processes. For the most part they go unseen, an invisible network under our feet.     What opportunities and challenges does your company face?

    The emerging hydrogen economy will be a significant opportunity for Teledyne GMI. With many countries developing a road-map approach, hydrogen will initially be blended with natural gas and then potentially used entirely. This will present challenges to the industry which Teledyne GMI is already consulting on and assisting with.

    IT security will continue to be a challenge and may drive clients to seek safer and more robust solutions. This could mean “third parties” having less access to utilities’ IT infrastructure requiring other solutions including approved direct to cloud offerings.

    In your opinion, what will be the role of natural gas in the next 50 years?

    Natural gas will remain a significant contributor to the energy portfolio and economic growth. The natural gas industry will however have to embrace and indeed pioneer the global decarbonization journey which will probably initially involve blending hydrogen, perhaps up to 20 per cent, with natural gas. Consequently, in the mid-21st century, natural gas usage in its current format may be restricted to more remote locations where hydrogen generation and storage could be problematic.

    1 The purpose of the bump test is to check for sensor and alarm functionality. Sensors are exposed to a set concentration of gas to ensure alarms are running properly.

    Cameron’s priorities over the next five years include supporting the Canadian Gas industry through innovative products. We are the national supplier and service center for Sewerin Gas Leak Detectors and analyzers, an Ametek distributor for Crystal Engineering pressure calibrators and Jofra Dryblock temperature calibrators, and a Factory representative for Fluke high accuracy and Gas Flow Standards. Recently we have expanded our product line to include; Aeroqual Gas and Ozone detection, and CST-Canada Sensor Technology pressure and level transmitters. In addition, we strive to provide timely servicing and support of instrumentation through our ISO17025 accredited laboratory for pressure.

    In an industry that is well regulated, the opportunity and challenge is to meet the expectation for improvements in measurement. To meet those requirements and integrate our capabilities with the Canadian market place, we will be seeking additional accreditation through Measurement Canada. We see opportunity for diversification of the natural gas supply throughout Canada into liquefied natural gas (LNG) and the growth of green initiatives associated with biogas. In order to support this diversification we are engaged as members with the Canadian Gas Association, the National Council for Standards and Laboratories, and the Canadian Biogas Association.

    Looking forward, we see steady growth and opportunity for the natural gas industry; due in part to an expanding population, and the IOT providing wireless and communication options for real time data. If the natural gas industry can take advantage of these developments, then it’s in a good spot to provide reliable energy solutions for the next 50 years and beyond.

    With the increased use of affordable Natural Gas in the residential, commercial, and industrial markets of North America, Romet’s growth outlook is strong.  Couple this growth with new trade agreements such as CETA, (Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement) between Canada and the European Union, the opportunities for continued expansion are great.

    However, the growth opportunities do not fully diminish the challenges.  New competitive forces within the market, economic changes driven by governments and global actions, and new or increased trade tariffs all have the potential for a negative impact on growth.

    All forms of energy, both renewable and nonrenewable, will be required to meet the ever-growing global demand. Natural gas will continue to play an important role in Canada as well as around the world as the global population grows and energy demands continue to increase. Canada is uniquely positioned to provide an abundance of safe and secure energy for decades to come and will continue to share its responsibly developed natural gas with countries working to advance their standard of living and economy.
